I need to free up some HD space on my comp so I want to burn all my images Ive cropped from manga/anime to cds for safe keeping. I am uploading most of them to my photobucket account but Im paranoid that Ill still loose them (I already lost nearly 1000 images once by uploading them to the net, not gonna happen again!).
Question is, most of the images are jpg, bmp, or gif files. Is there a way to burn them to a cd w/o getting software like Nero or anything like that?
I dont know alot about this kinda stuff since the only thing I ever burn is music, I just have a CD-R not a DVD-R sadly. Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: I should make it known that I dont have Win XP, I have 2000....my comp is old <_<

for microsoft xp they have something like an inbuilt burner for data files, so that you can just burn all your jpg, gif files just like that, if i recall correctly go to my computer and on the left side bar there should be stuff saying "burn to cd" or something like that..
sorry can't be of much help as i don't have a windows computer near me at the moment to guide you.. all i can say is that if you are burning it into a cd you don't need nero :) or maybe you might want to try download.com for a free burning software, though whether they work is another matter... from experience they worked most of the time though :p
Do you have a way to format CD-R's on your computer? If you do, format a CD-R or RW if you want--though I don't recommend RW's for this-- and then simply open the D drive from My Computer and transfer the images to the CD that way. Formatting creates a data disk and you don't need Nero to do it.
If I recall correctly, with Windows 2000 you need a third party software in order to write data files to CDs - and CD-Rs hold data files just fine.
The computer at my parents' house has Windows ME but the program Roxio DirectCD came with it. I would have thought Windows 2000 would have something similar in the package as well. I'm sure there are freewares or sharewares out there that you can use to write your image files.
